As Universal Seniors Social Services Uganda (USSSU) closed the year, November and December 2024 were filled with impact, healing, and joyous celebrations.
From securing approvals for the highly anticipated medical camp to bringing seniors together for a Christmas celebration, this season was a powerful reminder of why we stand for Uganda’s elderly community.
Despite the challenges, we saw lives touched, health restored, and spirits lifted.
November: Preparing for a Life-Changing Medical Camp
November was a month of intense groundwork as USSSU sought approvals and partnerships to ensure the December 11, 2024, Medical Camp would be a success.
📌 Key Engagements:
✅ Secured permissions from the District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), District Resident Commissioner (RDC), Local Council V (LC V), and District Health Officer.
✅ Engaged Bubulo Health Center leadership, business community, banks, NGOs, and community leaders to rally support.
✅ Mobilized volunteers and medical professionals to prepare for the event.
💡 Without this groundwork, the medical camp would not have been possible. The overwhelming support from district authorities, business leaders, and healthcare professionals showed a shared commitment to the well-being of our seniors.
December 11, 2024: A Milestone Medical Camp
🎉 On December 11, 2024, USSSU held its largest medical camp yet—serving over 450 seniors from Manafwa, Namisindwa, and Bududa districts!
📌 Highlights from the Medical Camp:
✅ 450 seniors received free medical treatment.
✅ Doctors provided general checkups, blood pressure monitoring, and medication.
✅ Essential medical donations were handed over to Bubulo Health Center.
✅ Seniors arrived as early as 7:00 AM, eager to receive care.
✅ The event featured informative sessions on elderly health and well-being.

Bringing Christmas Joy: A Celebration of Love & Gratitude
🎄 Following the medical camp, USSSU held a heartwarming Christmas celebration for our seniors.
💙 For many elderly individuals, this was the only time in the year they felt truly celebrated.

✅ Seniors gathered for a joyful meal, music, and dance.
✅ Special Christmas gifts were distributed.
✅ Caretakers attended on behalf of seniors too weak to travel.
✅ For one bedridden senior, gifts were delivered directly to his home.
